Latest scam ?

Hello  I am new to this but i have just had a call  from what  is obviously a scam and I want to make sure other people know about this. I had a call today from this number -  XXXXXXXXXXX. Thay were very insistant  and offered me a 40% cut in my bill and a free SAMSUNG S 26 phone because I was such a good customer. I obviously ended the call and reported it as scam. I hope this helps people in the community I have been asked to hide the number which I think is rather stupid as people need to know this.

@shadowcaster thanks for this. Variations of this scam have been reported here before. I'm glad you didn't fall for it. The phone number was undoubtedly spoofed, so the fact that you couldn't quote it doesn't matter.

Sadly these scam calls are not new and this one has been reported on here numerous times and it is all to do with getting hold of your account details so they can order an expensive device via it while you would be paying for it, they would then send a courier to your property to "return it to Sky" when in fact it would go them as you can read about here:

If you receive an unexpected parcel from Sky get in touch with our customer services team immediately. We can give advice on what to do. Don’t send the parcel anywhere except our returns address.

We’ll give you pre-paid returns packaging to send the parcel back to us.

If you gave them no details whatsoever then you should have no issues.

If ISPs were making enough profit to cut prices by that much and offer high-end hardware for free, then their shareholders would be very happy indeed...

The bait is more usually a 'free tablet', which is still impossible but slightly less so.
