Increase in Cost of TV and Broadband

I have just received an email saying my Sky TV and Skybroadband charges are increasing by 14.58% later this month and I have only been with Sky for 9 months. I cannot afford such an increase so is this negotiable and igf not how do I give up Sky and go to another provider?

Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to a phone number.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ The link should include an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ it’s only by ringing or writing in.

If you cancel correctly you should receive a confirmation email from Sky.

If you’re cancelling Sky Q totally don’t forget it’s very important that you keep you proof of posting indefinitely when you return the box(es) as Unipart are not quick at telling Sky you have sent equipment back. Return packaging will be sent out towards the end of your notice period.

@Nigel+J+B
There is an annual price increase as of April 1st, the same as previous years. It’s allowed through your terms and conditions which you’ve agreed to and all customers will be affected. Sky can increase prices once in any 12 month period. Your contract is not a fixed price but your discounts are.

The email will state you can leave Broadband within 30 days penalty free. The same does not apply to TV services.

As you've agreed to the increase, yes. The increase is,applied to the list price of your subscription products, rather than what you actually pay. It works out at around 10% which is the rate of inflation, so to be expected.

According to other posts, other providers are apparently increasing their prices with a much larger percentage.

Re: Increase in Cost of TV and Broadband

Hi Daniel, are you able to advise which providers are more competitive than Sky so I can check which to move to? Many thanks.

I also have another question. Why is there not a customer services number that I can use rather than try to makle myself understood with a machine on ''chat''?

Plenty of comparison sites out there but note you cannot cancel your TV services now.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Not really @Nigel+J+B That's something you need to research based on what you want and what you're willing to pay.

Of course there is. You can find the number  via the 'need more help' dropdown at the bottom of this page:  https://www.sky.com/help

Remember, the latest T’s and C’s for TV subscriptions explicitly state you can only cancel within a minimum discounted term if Sky agree to it. If they do allow it you’ll end up paying off the rest of the discounted term.
