How do I get points on here?

How do I get points on my Sky account? I get badges, but it doesn't increase my points. What am I doing wrong?

Points can take a little while to appear. You get 1 point for creating a thread, 2 points for posting on an existing thread, 10 points for providing an answer, 1 point for giving a like, 2 points for receiving a like etc.
