Hidden costs of cancelling broadband?

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of cancelling broadband but keeping sky tv subscription? I've read online to beware that tv charge may go up when you cancel broadband. I've tried searching on Sky website, chatted with a bot and spent an hour on chat being passed around without getting an answer! Any advice woukd be great fully received. I'm not in contract for either service.

It shouldn't make any difference to your TV contract. The only circumtances I can think of where it might, is where you have contracted package which includes both. As you're not 'in contract' that doesn't apply.

@Sarah+Fairlamb

Don't believe everything you read online. Once you've received your letter or email,outlining your price increase for April you can cancel Sky Broadband penalty free within 30 days of the notification. The same does not apply for TV. I'm not aware how that could impact your TV subscription as that will have its increases anyway.

If you're out of contract ie; your discounts have ended, you can contact Sky to try to negotiate a new deal which will require another 18 month minimum term contract. Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount so if you’re offered something acceptable you need to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.

You can either call Sky or use the following link

Re: Hidden costs of cancelling broadband?

Thank you for your help. I've checked my account and definitely out of contract and no discounts show on the bill so I think it's ok.
