Hey! I am looking to join sky, and move over from virgin media

My main question is that I have a home phone number with virgin media and want to move my number over as I use it for work and can't change it at all. I also have worries and the speed and reliability of sky broadband. I have heard many mixed opinions

You should be able to keep your Virgin number, but,Sky don't guarantee it.

Sky will tell you what broadband speed to expect as part of the sign-up process. However this is the speed to your router, not the WiFi speed in your home which depends on local factors and isn't guaranteed.
