Fraud

I was scammed last June by someone claiming to be sky. I am being charged by Sky for 3 phones instead of one. I have made several calls to sky and had no help! It's like banging my head against a brick wall. How do I get this fixed? Apart from going to the papers or suing sky for the misery and mental distress this has caused me?

@Animal1985

If you reported this last June and it hasn't been sorted then fill in this form to register a complaint:

https://www.sky.com/help/complaints

This might not be a speedy process as doing this gives Sky up to 8 weeks to resolve this or you can ask for a deadlock letter to take it to the next step.

Have you made a complaint or just made several calls? I imagine these scams involving mobiles being sent out do take a while to be investigated.

Re: Fraud

I have not made a complaint as Sky said they were aware of this scam and sorting it. I cancelled my d debit as not willing to pay £90 a month instead of £36 then I get a threatening letter from a debt recovery company??? This is not helping me, a good customer of many years. I have all the details of the scam on my phone, messages, photos and sky are not interested in any of this. Nobody is helping me!

Cancelling your payment method will not be helping as you need to maintain payments. If services have been restricted (which they almost certainly will be if a Debt Recovery company are involved) you now won't be able to call Sky.

Re: Fraud

More going on here I think, This happened last June and you chased it up immediately but you have been paying for 3 phones and are only now following up again?!

If that happened to me I.would have been on the phone daily from day one to make sure I got it resolved

Also cancelling you payment method will leave you unable to speak to Sky until all money owed is paid and a new monthly payment method is set up

"How do I get this fixed? Apart from going to the papers or suing sky for the misery and mental distress this has caused me?"

Also this is nonsense, You wont be doing either as at the end of the day the scammers tricked YOU, Not Sky, YOU personally allowed them to access YOUR account and order the phones and you sent them onto the scammers yourself or at least allowed them to get the phones

Before raising a complaint I would contact Sky with immediate effect and try and resolve things before it gets worse for you as debt collection and credit score issues will start to mount

@Anonymous

Agree with most of that. Unfortunately if services have been restricted Sky won't answer such calls.

@Animal1985

If your services have been restricted Sky won’t reinstate them until you’ve paid what you owe and you’ve also set up a new continuous payment method.

Until you’ve done this any calls to Sky will only prompt you to pay.

If your payment is 2+ weeks overdue you will have to pay the next bill as well and if you’re in arrears for 56+ days Sky can fully terminate your subscription (but you’ll still owe the arrears).

As this is part of a credit agreement purchase (mobile or Sky Glass for example) non payment can see the credit agreement cancelled at which point the full amount becomes due in one payment .

Restrictions of services are automatic and Skys agents can’t override the process, even if you’re told otherwise. Sky don't allow payment plans on overdue live accounts, nor will they consider promises to pay on or by a certain date.

Any contact now should be through the Debt Collection Company as it appears Sky have passed the debt to them.

Re: Fraud

Thanks for that.

I did pay my bill in full two days ago and phone now unrestricted.

The scammers never asked me for any personal info, they already had it all, hence I thought the original call was legitimate. I still have all the evidence from scammer, phone number, whatsapp conversation etc

This is all so frustrating, Sky told me they were dealing with many similar scams and working their way through them, hence not doing much till now. My family are going nuts about this whole mess and I'm still paying for two phones I don't have. What am I meant to do?
