How did he cancel his Sky subscription?
Did he receive the usual email acknowledging the cancellation?
It does sound like he didn't cancel correctly.
I concur, note that if he used the one touch switch service this only covers broadband connection, if he also had tv services he would need to have cancelled direct with sky

If he had TV and Broadband with Sky, and did the switch Virgin would only be able to cancel the broadband service. If he didn't contact Sky to cancel the TV service then the service wouldn't have been cancelled.

Re: Direct Debits
He changed to Virgin, and I cancelled his subscription. We just forgot to cancel the DD with the bank.

Hi @Sheps28 There shouldn't be a need to cancel the DD. Sky will only take money they think you owe them. Cancelling the DD without establishing why Sky are charging you could be disastrous. Sky will start debt collection measures etc. which I'm sure your father doesn't want that.

Only the account holder can give notice to cancel a subscription... as noted, continued DD collections indicates the account was not correctly cancelled.

Re: Direct Debits
So do you think we will not get money back, the Dds taken did not change in amounts to what he initially paid

Re: Direct Debits
If it transpires he didn't cancel properly then Sky are under no obligation to reimburse any of the additional payments. And if the cancellation is still to be done correctly he'll need to give 31 days notice so will probably incur another payment.

Without knowing exactly what's happened it's impossible for us to say...
It's not unheard of for providers not to correctly cancel accounts.
