Direct Debit failed but I paid manually — what should I do?

Hi,

 

I need some help with my Direct Debit.

 

When I first set up my Sky account, the Direct Debit didn’t go through for some reason. During that time, I made two manual payments(same amount) to make sure my balance was covered.

 

Now my latest bill shows that the next month’s Direct Debit has already been taken from my credit account, which is fine. But I still don’t know how to sort out the first month’s failed Direct Debit.

 

What should I do about the original failed DD?

Do I need to contact Sky or my bank, or will the system update automatically?

@User202511  If a Direct Debit fails Sky normally try again 10 days later, you should never make a manual payment unless asked to by Sky.

 

Sky will take the payment again by Direct Debit in a few days time.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Can I just check what I should do now?
Since I already paid manually, do I need to take any action, or should I just wait and let the system sort it out?


I just want to make sure Sky won’t try to collect the failed Direct Debit again.

As stated abive if your direct debit has failed Sky will take it again so you do not need to do anything so even though you have made this payment then might try to take it again and the payment you made will appear as a credit.

Hi @User202511   Unfortunately Sky will try again, so I'm afraid you have paid twice by making a manual payment. Once the credit is shown on your bill, you can contact Sky to get a refund.
