Delaying and obstructive process to cancel sky
My issue is that Sky are the worst company I have ever dealt with when it comes to leaving. We are out of contract and had no debts but there is no easy way to:
1. Talk to a human being.
2. Access written procedure for leaving.
3. No option on website for leaving that actually takes you through the process.
When I eventually leave I will never ever return to Sky.
Come on guys you can surely do much better than this.
I am retaining allmy correspondence and emails and may well submit them to BBC watchdog.
Sky is like the Hotel California.

Re: Delaying and obstructive process to cancel sky
@Fed_up_with_Sky
You aren’t contacting Sky here. This is a customer ▶️ customer discussion forum where we try to help other customers.
▫️
To fully cancel your TV subscription, if your minimum term has ended you’ll need to give Sky the required 31 days notice. Note that the latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. (If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term).
See the below link
https://www.sky.com/help/your-account/my-account-and-subscription/cancelling/cancel-my-subscription/...
Select ‘No, I still need help’ at the bottom of the link which will lead to contact methods.
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ It may include a phone number, an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ there’s a text option (Monday-Friday 9am to 4:30pm) otherwise it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.
If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.
If you are cancelling Sky Q, return packaging will be sent out near the end of your notice period for any loaned equipment Sky are expecting back. It’s important that you obtain proof of posting and keep it safe and indefinitely.
▫️
To cancel Sky Broadband and Sky Talk the below link explains how to switch to an alternative provider or the various methods on cancelling completely.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-broadband
If you try to cancel whilst still in a minimum term deal you might have to pay an early termination charge (Sky will notify you if you do and how much they’ll charge).
NOTE: One Touch Switching only applies to broadband and Talk and NOT a TV subscription.
Return packaging for any equipment Sky expect back will be sent out to you near the end of the 14 day notice period. Remember to keep any proof of posting indefinitely.
NOTE: I only provide help on the forum boards so Direct Messaging is switched off

Re: Delaying and obstructive process to cancel sky
I am fully aware that I am not contacting Sky I am sharing my experience in the hope that:
1. Someone might provide a written leaving process
2. To share my solution which is to email mysky@sky and not waste valuable time on phone or chat bots.

It's in the contract you agreed.

Re: Delaying and obstructive process to cancel sky
@Fed_up_with_Sky what I did to cancel Sky Stream recently was to send an email.
From the link posted earlier, you may come to a question at the bottom of the page asking "Did you get the help you need?"
Click NO.
Then you will see a page as to how you contact.
I sent an email giving my 31 days notice, including my account number, address , phone no.. stating I want to end my contract.
Sky will contact you to finalise cancellation of the contract (must be over the phone or via chat- security they say) and the contract will end on the date submitted in your email of cancellation.

The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (2024) gives the Competition and Markets Authority new powers to insist that online sign-up be matched with online cancellation, but those are yet to be implemented.
