Cricket on Sky

I subscribed to the sky sports package for my husband and found that most of the cricket is on TNT - that's £30 a month!! I really object to a sports package that doesn't cover the cricket. He's really not that interested in the football. Am I stuck with this problem or can I change it for the cinema package?

Thats not quite correct, Cricket coverage is split between TNT and Sky depending on the tournament or test series. Sky have the majority of the major franchise T20 tournaments along with home England matches/tests and the Ashes, along with some domestic cricket tournaments. The highlights of the TNT Sports coverage is England's tours of India, along with all of India's home internationals. 

Any other away England tours are typically split between Sky and TNT Sports, with the current West Indies tour being covered by TNT Sports.

Ultimately in order to follow all the England cricket you do need by TNT Sports and Sky Sports.

It depends on what you signed up for. If you were on an 18 or 24 month minimum term for Sky Sports then Sky may not let you change it but if on a 31 day rolling contract then you can easily stop it and get Sky Cinema instead.

Unfortunately this is the modern way now, with a lot of sports (including football, cricket, rugby union etc) having multiple providers due to the bidding and rights they've acquired. 

The viewer really has to do their homework on what is being shown where and then work out what the best options are (e.g. you could perhaps add TNT sports on a rolling month basis and then cancel as required, but obviously incur more expense if this is an add on).

From memory, Sky barely have any England cricket for the coming months ahead and I believe TNT has rights to the current West Indies tour and subsequent New Zealand tour. As another example, England's recent tour of Pakistan that has just concluded was at risk of TV blackout, but Sky only acquired rights at the last minute (presumably they wouldn't pay the initial asking price and negotiated a better late deal). 

As previously mentioned if you have Sky Sports on a rolling monthly contract, you could easily hop between Sky Sports and TNT as it suits (giving 31 days notice), as far as I know anyway. 

I have recently just done this, added TNT sports for a month and cancelled it the day after. Was all very easy to manage via the My Sky app.
