I'm just wondering if I buy a phone on contract now will the payment for the contract be taken out of my bank this month or will it start from next month January?

Billing will not start until you have the phone in your hands and the first bill is either 3 days after this or around 14 days later is paying by a direct debit.

I believe first payment is due a few days after delivery (or up to 14 days later if DD).
