Compensation on waiting for broadband

Hi there, 

 

Looking for some advice.

 

I received an email (haven't clicked any links) saying I was due compensation for the issues I've had with broadband.  (still waiting 6months on) umpteen calls and engineers, now been told will be resolved/up snd running by end of July.

 

So the email said I was due a large amount of compensation due to this (in excess of£700).

 

I rang the sky number. They seemed legit, but didn't have my corrent bank account number (gave last 2 digits of a previous account). I gave them my account number and sort code only (not 16 digit card number or cvv).

 

I'm now really worried I may have been scammed.  It's late at night so sky now closed. 

Is anyone on here that could advise?

Compensation for broadband issues is usually payable as a credit onto your account as you can read about here:

 

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/auto-compensation

 

We’ll calculate what you’re owed and add a credit to your Sky account. Once that's been added, we'll send you an email or a letter to let you know. You don’t need to get in touch to get your compensation; it’s automatic.

Where did you get this number?

The number i got was from the sky app. I've tried to post it, but it won't allow. I will write it as words!;

Ok, should be genuine then.  They may be considering a bank credit due to the size of the compensation.
