Changes to Discovery+
Hi, I'm a, completely brand new Sky customer, having moved over our Broadband and combining various streaming services into one bill with Sky Stream.
Literally days after joining I've now seen in the news that Discovery+ is changing and the vast, vast majority of the content that was included, has been bumped into a very significantly higher price bracket. No more eurosport, no cycling,
The inclusion of this in my Sky bill was the key reason for joining. Is this going to effect me?
Is my 'included' Discovery plus subscription now effectively worthless?
If so, im gonna cancel the whole lot, as this seems ridiculous, especially so soon after having this sold as the major benefit.

Re: Changes to Discovery+
WBD have decided to close Eurosport at the end of next month and instead move the sports content over to the existing TNT Sports channel, essentially closing their free sports channels.
They have also made a change to discovery + and removed the standard tier so they have Basic which is the non-sports offering and the Premium tier which is the sports offering ( it's worth noting that if you subscribe to TNT Sports via Sky you get access to the Discovery + Premium tier).

Re: Changes to Discovery+
@sholehan If it's the sport element that's important to you then yes the discovery plus basic is pointless in that respect
if you have tnt sports as part of your tv package then you get the premium tier of discovery plus which includes the sports that were in basic
if you are still within your 31 day cooling off period
note that the discovery plus changes is likely to affect all tv platforms not just sky

Re: Changes to Discovery+
Thank you for the copy and paste from a news article but that doesn't tell me anything I dont already know.
Ill rephrase - Is my previous 'Standard' subscription going to be replaced with the new 'Basic' or the new 'Premium'.
I suspect the answer is obvious, and if so that amounts to nothing more thsn price gouging when Im less than a week into my paid service.

Re: Changes to Discovery+
@SKY1992bf posted while i ws typing, thanks.
Its now a completely useless freebie.
The only reason I have become a Sky customer was that all the services combined provided better value than paying for them separately. I used to use NowTV to watch F1, discovery plus to watch cycling and other sports.
That will now not be the case.
Ill be cancelling the whole lot think!

Re: Changes to Discovery+
I'm same but been here for 25+ years. Loved my nordic ski events especially jumping but now I have to have tnt as its on their channel 4(TNT4) but upset to learn it's not all winter sports, there's bloody football on.
I don't watch any other sport.

Re: Changes to Discovery+
So I am an avid cycling fan and liked Discovery as it has the main races and the Discovery + app allowed me to watch the full or edited races. I did this in comjunction with the GCN network which recently finished due to Warner buying it and getting rid of things the owner doesn't like. So that left Discovery Sports which was OK till that has now been canned for no reason other than a money grab. Both channels suddenly vanished and we now have to find another £30 a month to watch the cycling, snooker, etc.
They then claim that removing and moving all sports to TNT (that has no affiliation to Sky is a good thing) as it will all be in the same place and we will be able to find a 'new favouite sport'. Absolute rubbish as it means everyone will have to get a TNT subsciption on top of the Sky one.

Re: Changes to Discovery+
So just to clarify, all sports on Discovery+ has been removed unless you pay an extra £30.99pm to the greedy ones at TNT?

Yes, but it's all Sky's fault. Apparently. 😐

Re: Changes to Discovery+
Agreed. I use to dip into the nordic events eg biathlon & cross country skiing, however that now gone. I will not be paying almost £31pm to access these sports.

...it's not Sky's fault (although many posts on here blame them).
Paying to watch sports can be expensive. It's a bit like the streamers - how many do you subscribe to...!?

Re: Changes to Discovery+
I had not realised the changes until i went to tune into Milan-San Remo only to be met by the need to go to TNT. I used to enjoy the classics and the Grand tours but they are no longer an option unless i pay almost £31pm, which i wont. Those who made this decision are basically going to cut down the amount of viewers which means less exposure. Baffling logic.

Re: Changes to Discovery+
I dont think Ive actually blamed Sky rather Ive taken aim at TNT & their costs. Apart from Sky, I only pay for Amazon Prime and thats mostly for free delivery. Plus I can short term add content for a month or so at nowhere near £31pm. If Netflix did something similar, I wouldnt rush to pay a monthly subscription.

Indeed, I was being ironic... (Many have blamed Sky)
