Change name on account

I need help to change the name of my broadband account into my name it's currently in my ex partners name but they no longer live in the house so id like to keep the broadband account as im still at same address but change it from her name to mine Can anyone help sky aren't being helpful when I call

Hi, you cannot change a name on a Sky account unless you marry, divorce or the account holder passes away. You would need to create you own Sky account and complete a One Touch Switch in order to have the broadband in your name. When the OTS completes it will automatically close the existing broadband down

That is totally incorrect.

The account holder, your ex, will need to contact Sky and cancel the subscription (if not in a minimum term deal). Any loaned equipment will need to be returned. Only then can you take out a new subscription in your name.

If the account holder gets married, divorces etc Sky will change their name on the account to their new married name or previous surname. If the account holder passes away Sky will change the account holders name. 


What the OP wants is to change the account holder from their ex to them. Sky do not allow that at all. 

You would need to create you own Sky account and complete a One Touch Switch in order to have the broadband in your name. When the OTS completes it will automatically close the existing broadband down

 

That only applies when the account holder is switching broadband providers.

There are lots of posts on here from customers asking a similar question. The answer remains the same. Sky don't allow the changes that the OP is trying to achieve.

@Adam+sky+82 you can't use the one touch switching service to change accountholder name. It only works for switching between providers using the same accountholder name. To change accountholder without changing provider, the old accountholder must cancel, and the new one sign up in their own name.

When you move house the broadband and phone is not actully get  switched off  but just that the account.of the account of previous occupant is closed and. new one for the incoming resident, If they are keeping same broadband and phone provider is opened but  the service to the property  is not actuly cut,well  was not when we last moved house , but mind you that was with BT may be Sky do it differently. Any what I getting at is this done like that. The expartner for all intention purposes tell she is  Sky moving which in fact he has done  and Adam tells Sky he is   moving in and wants to take over broadband. So one account get closed and simultaneously Adam's new account is opened  without any breaks  in service,

Did you actually read my first response? I clearly state not being able to change an account holders name. I then clearly state a new account must be created by the person staying in the property, completing the OTS the broadband which is active now in the OP name will be cancelled down and the new broadband in the correct name will be activated without experiencing any down time. It would swap from one to the other

No. The account holder has to cancel, return equipment then the OP which is actually @Andy-26 not @Adam+sky+82 can take out their own subscription and new equipment will be sent out.

That will not work for the reasons explained by myself and @Mark39 You cannot use the One Touch Switch to stay with the same ISP,

OTS is for switching providers, not account holders.

 

AIUI most providers will not action this.
