Re: Cancelling Sky TV

Evening everyone

thanks so much for taking the time to reply and try and help me. I must admit I've been feeling quite desperate about the whole thing

but I just called Sky and spoke to a lovely man called Josh in Cardiff who I'm hoping has resolved everything for me.

Did this answer not help you?

@rooky007

What protection?

Cancelling your payment method is definitely not a good idea and it will cause you lots of additional problems.

The relevant services will be restricted, you won't be able to call Sky, the account (or part of the subscription) can't be cancelled, late payment fees will be added monthly and then Sky will involve a debt recovery company which will affect your credit rating.

@rooky007 Unwise. It will only result in an increasing debt which Sky will seek to recover from you.

That might be true if payments under your direct debit were unauthorised. But they're not.

Not the case. You still have a contract. Your agreement to A NEW PRICE isn't required. But you carry on....

Thats incorrect - your contract doesn't end until you give the required notice period. What ends is the minimum term of the contract, once the minimum term ends that is what allows you to leave with no cancellation fees.

A minimum term is inserted into your contract in exchange for you receiving discounts on the list prices of Sky's packages, once the minimum term ends, your contract continues at the non-discounted list price until you submit your cancellation request to Sky.
