Re: Cancellation not actioned
Hi
No, I was not in any minimum term contract, and had been paying full price for 14 years and hadn't used it for more than 3 years, hence it making little sense to continue paying for.

Re: Cancellation not action
I didn't simply cancel the direct debit - I genuinely believed that, after repeatedly explaining that I wanted to cancel to multiple people, each time going through the same discussion, each time saying "I want to cancel", and paying for more than a further month after that point, that the contract was terminated. Even Sky agreed with me on that point - that isn't the issue. The issue is that they won't make any attempts to address my complaint and instead keep insisting that I owe them money, when, by their own admission, I don't. There are two areas not talking to each other - one who attempted to take the February payment which was declined, and is chasing me for the money, and the complaints team who seemingly are robots and do nothing except send me emails with contact details I can't use.
Obviously if I had thought the contract was still in place I wouldn't have cancelled the payment. But I didn't, and (looking back at it) neither did Sky. But they didn't action it, and won't action anything else.
In practice it is a small price to pay to get them out of my life, so I will leave it there.
