@Mandy225
With TV subscriptions, if your minimum term has ended you’ll need to give Sky the usual 31 days notice. Be aware that the latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they do agree you’ll usually have to pay the remainder of your discounted term and only in very limited unique circumstances can you leave penalty free.

See the below link
https://www.sky.com/help/your-account/my-account-and-subscription/cancelling/cancel-my-subscription/...

Select ‘No, I still need help’ at the bottom of the link which will lead to contact methods.
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ It may include a phone number, an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ there’s a text option (Monday-Friday 9am to 4:30pm) otherwise it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.

If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.

Remember that billing continues through the notice period after which a credit for any overpayment will show on your bills and should be refunded about 6 weeks after your last day of connection.

If you are successful in cancelling Sky Q or Stream return packaging will be sent out near the end of your notice period for any loaned equipment Sky are expecting back. It’s important that you obtain proof of posting and keep it safe and indefinitely.

@Scotty27

That is a great idea as not only will they suspended and not cancel your services, any missed payments will then appear on your credit record.

Only to tell you to reinstate your payment method. Cancelling your payment method is definitely not a good idea and it will cause you lots of additional problems.

The relevant services will be restricted, you won't be able to call Sky, the account (or part of the subscription) can't be cancelled, late payment fees will be added monthly and then Sky will involve a debt recovery company which will affect your credit rating.

Well that not entirely right after a certain period of non payment ( not sure of the length but a good few months) Sky will cancel your service but not before the account being put in the hans of debt recovery company and you credit score being severely affected. And the outanding amount up till Sky canceling your service plus any termination fee you will still be liable for you to pay even if this involves county court action.

That means the likely hood of Sky ever giving service ever again will be very unlikely even if you ever wanted it . However more importantly you credit score and non payment is shared with other providers so if you wanted tv and / or broadband with any one else the likely hood it will probably be declined.

Re: Cancel subscription

Well I can't get hold of them now !!!! All I get is the AI saying they can't answer my question. How does someone who has been with Sky for 25 years get hold of them ?

Hi @Scotty27   Try not engaging with the AI. I find repeating "talk to an advisor" at every prompt sometimes helps.

Re: Cancel subscription

I finally managed to 'phone Sky. They will not allow the phone number to be published, though. Although I have been a Sky customer for 27 years, they want to charge me over £500 to cancel ......

That would be early termination fees. They could have refused your request to cancel.

Re: Cancel subscription

@Mandy225 if you are able, I'd suggest you set a reminder for 31 days before your discount  period/contract ends.

With TV services, I cancelled via email  giving the 31 day notice.

It was both quick and simple.

Sky called me to verify my identity and that was it.
