Cancel my subscription

I moved home at the beginning of March 2026, I can't not put a sky dish on the building at my new place. When I tried to cancel the contract in March I was told I would have to pay £250 pounds after being with sky for 25 years which I find disappointing. The person I spoke to would only reduce my package to £70 per month for something I'm no longer using, then on the 2/08/2026 I had a call from Sky and that gentleman cancelled my contract and I could no longer get into MySky app or sky go. So I thought it had been cancelled so I stopped the direct debit as I no longer have access to sky services but received an email yesterday 24/08/2026 telling me I need to set up payment for something I no longer have access to and can't get hold of a human being to sort this out. As a result I'm now getting very frustrated and stressed about this and would warn people to stay away from Sky!

It doesn't seem like your cancellation was handled correctly although early termination fees can certainly be applied in these circumstances.

Before you can speak to Sky you will need to pay what Sky believe you owe and set up a new payment method otherwise they will eventually pass the debt to a debt recovery company.

Re: Cancel my subscription

That's where it's wrong. They have had £350 out of me for something I don't have and am not using but have to pay to talk to a human being. How can they be allowed to do that as that's extortion?

Until then any calls to Sky will only prompt you to pay. Once you've done the above any overpayment will be reimbursed.

You should be able to pay the bill and set up your direct debit via the MySky app or online using this link

Did Sky not discuss Sky Stream with you, as an alternative to Sky Q?

Re: Cancel my subscription

They did but due to bad internet which we are waiting for openreach to fix or put new lines in means that Sky Q or glass are not a viable option. And now with how I've been treated after 25 years I no longer want to stay with sky! I only had sky + anyway. I have just paid another payment so they have now had £423 for something I'm not using or have access to and still can't get hold of a human being?

Have you also set up a new continuous payment method?

You also have to wait for your full payment to clear in Sky’s account but this may not be instant.

Do you have Sky Q or glass you can not have both at the same time. True  with glass that receives it signal from your broadband. But if you have Sky Q that receives its signal all tv channels from satellite dish on the outside on the wall of your property. There if you have SkyQ. you should still be able see all your tin channels on Sky box. Only the on demands content, the apps and possibly your tv guide may be effected by no internet. Only Sky stream and glass would you have no tv at all without broadband. However if you have cancelled your direct debit and Sky have not been able to take payment then your tv service may been suspended, and only paying the outstanding payment and setting up a new direct debit your service will not be restored with or without broadband.

@DaveDrizen

The OP has already stated they had Sky+ in the post you copy and pasted. They also state they can't have a dish either.
