Cancel my sky

My contract ends on the 18th of January I tried to give notice but was told that I would be charged an early cancellation fee.do I have to wait until the 18th of January to give notice to leave Sky.

@Broon  You need to give 31 days notice for TV & 14 days for broadband

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
