Can't wait to leave sky

My contract is expiring on 18th of Nov. Paying £48 for 900 MBPS speed a  month. Same speed is currently being sold for £28 on website to new customer. Called SKY today to see if they can bring down my bill. First of I had to make 4 calls, God knows why SKY customer service is rude, unhelpful and have zero sympathy with their existing customers. SKY only care about acquiring new customer. I was told the best SKY can do was bring my bills to £46 or I have an option to leave sky after being 14 years oyal customer. No one can answer a straight question was on hold for over 10 minutes was told their system is not working and then they can't find any deal. Spoken to James in retention team (not sure if he was lying or telling the truth)  spoke to 30 minutes today at 2:40 pm can't believe he could not answer a simple question. One the worst customer service can't wait to leave SKY !!

@Sam156225556

New customers are offered good discounts as an incentive to join. Most companies do this now. You probably took advantage of such a new customer deal when you first joined Sky.

If you can't negotiate an acceptable price for renewing then perhaps consider a move to an alternative provider, but when that deal nears its end you'll be in the same position with them, and will be able to rejoin Sky if you wish and take up any new customer deals available at that time.

Skys owners (currently Comcast) do appear to prioritise getting new customers over retaining long standing ones. Other providers do this too so it seems to be usual practice.

Hi @Sam156225556   I'm afraid that loss leading pricing is only available to new customers to attract their custum. It is the same for all providers, and it is always best to change providers every 18 months/two years.

Was there a specific question you were asking or was it more general?

Having been a customer since 2001 I have spoken to Sky numerous times, even if it's just for a renewal deal,  and can honestly say I have never had an agent be rude to me.

Re: Can't wait to leave sky

1) asked a simple question how much do I have to pay as a cancelation fee if I switch to BT today. Can't answer then after 10 minutes I was told £84 but again no clarity on anything. Hope someone listen to the call and realise how bad that James was.

2) Asked what can be done for the same speed atleast 5 times same question but again and again I was just told you are loyal customer we can do £40 for 500 mbps and so on. I stayed on call for over 30 minutes and not a straight answer. I could see that agent was trying to kill time may be his shift was coming to an end or he did not want to speak to other customer. God knows !

Re: Can't wait to leave sky

Daniel may be you are happy with paying fortune when the same deal can be obtained on a lower price so no wonder you never had a rude advisor. Good for you. And just because you did not have a rude advisor that does not mean SKY is full of amazing customer service.Below is screenshot for you hopw good SKY is sky 2.pngsky1.pngit trustpilot

So they answered your question on how much do you want for a renewal but you weren't happy with the reply?

I've been with Sky for 18 years for TV, occasionally mobile and broadband on and off. I'm the same in never having had a rude agent and have mostly always got an acceptable price that I'm happy with and have never "overpaid". I've left mobile and left broadband (a few times) when we've not been able to come to an agreement but I've never got worked up about it.

If you're not happy with a renewal price, find another supplier.

Edit: if you have to quote Trustpilot to make your point, you've lost the argument in my experience.

Funny how many people decide to resort to that response just because they don't agree with the opinions and advice offered.

Completely with @Me134 - I've always negotiated a price for TV I've been happy with but have on many occasions switched my broadband away from Sky ( and then returned as a new customer at a later date). There is much more competition in the mobile and broadband space, which means as a customer, you will almost certainly be losing out if you don't switch at the end of your minimum term
