Called by sky

Cancelled Sky a few weeks ago.  Decided I wanted to come back just for the tv but kept getting cut off when I called you yesterday.  Now I've had a call.  Could barely understand her cos of background noise in her call,centre.     It I think she's set me up with £10 a month for the next 24mo this and has also arranged for an Apple iPad to be delivered to me tomorrow.   That's when I thought it might be a scam.    Wanted all of my details, didn't seem to know anything about me, but no bank details given.  Anyone know this number?  Is it a sky line?

@badger1929  It;'s a scam, Sky would never send yopu a free iPad not offer something at £10 per  mionth for TV subs.

Did you give them your account password?  Have ypou checked your online account and changed the password on thet?

If you do receive a package you will need to call Sky and not let a couiier collect it  https://www.sky.com/help/articles/account-takeover

@badger1929

They try to obtain sufficient information to be able to order expensive mobile devices under your name which Sky innocently deliver to you,

The scammers would then recontact you (again claiming to be Sky) saying they ve made a mistake and for you to send it to a (non Sky) address. If you did that they then have the device and you have the bill.

They are very cunning. They may send packaging to post the item (to them) or even send a'courier' to collect it.

With any calls from 'Sky' (especially unexpected calls) if the caller asks for your previously agreed telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which I would expect a genuine Sky agent to do) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll likely be a scam call.

Important to note that this scam doesn't require the victim to hand over financial information to be successful, because that's already legitimately held by Sky.  What the criminals are after is enough account and personal information to be able to place a genuine-looking order with Sky Mobile for subsequent interception.
