I had Sky b'band and line installed in July. I have just found out I have also been paying BT?? I though Sky would be cancelling my BT account for me. BT refuse to give me my money back, in fact they are apparently going to charge me for another month for a service they are not, and cannot provide. Any advice folks?

If Sky performed a 'line takeover' then it would have cancelled. But if you had a new line installed (such as fibre to the premises) then it probably won't and you are probably liable even though you did not use the service.

Sky will say they instructed BT to cancel your service with them (and as it's an automated process at Sky's end I'm unclear how they wouldn't have) and BT will say no they didn't.
Unless one or the other accepts responsibility, I don't think there will be a satisfactory resolution, I'm afraid.
