Billing query and leaving sky

Hi please can you help ? 
Been trying  for ages and can't get onto online chat to the right topic! 
I am leaving Sky and have a direct debit and my new provider starts on the 10th June.

i have paid my last direct debit with Sky on the 27th May and after that I cancelled the debit instruction as I didn't want to be billed again.

Now I have been emailed (7th May) saying that I need to update and reinstate my direct debit. I assume for the period of ( 27may-10 June) however I inserted my details by card, to pay monthly,, which looked like it worked , but keeps showing I need to update it. Please can you help?

@WifiFury6 Can't you just update it with your direct debits details and then cancel it again after they've taken the final payment?

Thank you for the reply, i will try again, however it keeps showing it needs updating..

You said you previously had a direct debit setup so can you not provide those details again rather than your card details. While you are right about the billing period you would also need this setup so any overpayment can be repaid to you once you have left for your new provider.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

i have managed to update the direct debit details, which shows confirmed, however it still shows it needs updating at the moment in the app ,is that normal? 
Also on the confirmation it says ,this change won't apply to your current bill, only to future bills, is that ok?

It might take the app a day or two to update since you restored the direct debit details.

 

It might be to late for that bill to be taken via it so you will have to see what happens.

Thanks so much for your kind help!

This would be so much easier if I could just simply talk to a person at Sky regarding this, but they just just make it so hard to even do this!
