Billed twice

I got a notice the other day that my direct debit had failed. I just checked on it and saw that it's pending in one of my accounts but has actually gone out of the other. How can I still owe them for this month's contract if it's actually gone out of my account, and is pending in the other? Are they trying to take it twice? I'm confused.
