£215 unexplained debt
Hello,
Ive woken up today to see a debt issued by international acquisitions LLC for a debt of £215 -
after due diligence I realised this could of only of come from sky.
when I called sky they confirmed I did not owe any money and also issued me with a £40 refund for credit on the account.
the debt recovery agents say this is a sky debt, but sky say they have no such thing on the system?
what can I do as this is now registered as a default even though I have no correspondence retaining to this fact.
I've not moved in 6 years the default has appears now but appears to be 2 years old ?
any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Re: £215 unexplained debt
Is it an actual CCJ? (i.e. showing on your credit record)

If so, there's a very specific process to follow (including paying a fee) to apply to have the judgment set aside. (Particularly a very limited time upon discovering the CCJ) Settling (paying) the judgment alone will not repair your credit history if you've missed the original deadline to pay.
If so, it's a bit beyond the scope of this forum to assist. You may have to seek advice, perhaps starting with CAB.

Re: £215 unexplained debt
Not a CCJ - It shows as a default that's 2 years old.
Not sure why it has only just showed or I would have dealt with it sooner.
as far as sky are concerned I've never owed anything and also issued me £40 in overdue credit !

You need to be really clear here.
Either it's been to court (without your knowledge perhaps) and a CCJ has been gained. A 'default judgment' can be applied for by the claimant if the defendant does not respond to the claim.
Otherwise, anything else such as 'debt' or 'registered' or 'default' are terms often used by debt collectors but may not have any legal recovery powers unless they obtain their own judgment. (As I said it's beyond the scope of this forum)
If Sky (the telecoms firm of this forum) are unaware of this then it's possible it's another 'Sky' which is not at all related to the aforementioned company. (It happens)

Re: £215 unexplained debt
Hello it is a default registered to my credit profile.
as far as I'm aware no CCJ has been applied for yet,
but as I've received no prior knowledge of even a default notice, I am unaware altogether.

Re: £215 unexplained debt
I think initially it would be best to seek some advice from CAB or a forum that's more relevant, e.g. MSE.

...it could be related to hardware non-return charges? Did you have any hardware to return (and did you retain proof if so)
