Too many adverts on an expensive pay service, WHY?

Sky Q is a paid service and quite expensive too.

So why so many adverts?   Its becoming unwatchable.

Costs way more than BBC, Netflix and Amazon prime all put together.

Taking the Micky out of their customers.

@RayMcc Its simple maths really, BBC , Netflix and Amazon can charge less because they have far more customers(Netflix 222million, Amazon over 200million) and far less content(BBC also have guaranteed income via the licence), Sky and other channels have to use adverts to enable them to make and buy content.

Well, I hear this a lot,"why don't I understand how TV is funded etc etc."

Its funded by being a paid service.

They are making massive profits.

Not spending it all on making programs etc etc.

They are profiteering...

Yes SKY is a profit making company, as all those you listed, except the BBC (which is a different case), are

SKY, however, do invest heavily in Film & TV production as well, of course, spending a lot on Sports rights and buying in other content.

They are currently investing heavily in a dedicated studio production facility which will also boost the UK's jobs in this sector :

SKY Studios Development

I haven't studied their books but I doubt if they are significantly different than others

@RayMcc. Yes, No, totally different service, you can always cancel. Personally, I record everything I watch and always skip the adverts so the more there are the better if it keeps the cost of the service down. Why is it that making a profit is becoming a dirty thing for a company to do?

Why do people try to compare Sky (UK only) with huge global businesses with many times more customers or the BBC that has totally different funding? it's totally illogical 😞

Lack of understanding.

And why complain about adverts when they're not hard to avoid...?

I didn't spot that as I admit I didn't click on the link.

I am not 100% sure but I don't think SKY NZ is part of the Comcast Group (who own SKY UK)

@RayMcc  You don't understand how TV works. When you do figure it out, please come back and tell us if you are correct or not.

I understand the funding however the number of adverts does make watching broadcast transmissions unwatchable. I expect like most I record for about 1/2 an hour then watch I can FF over the adverts and reach the end of the broadcast at the right time.

If most do this whilst I can understand Sky and other channels wanting the information I can't see what is in it for the advertisers if few watch them.

Adverts are designed that even at x32 FF your brain still processes some of the information subconsciously

What I do is go forward 4/5 minutes and if I end up at the program, I RW until I exit the program and then let it go from there. That's for most recorded programs.
