Home phone not working

When I switched from virgin to sky I move my phone number with me ( did all the necessary steps) the phone has never worked .. I fault it was the phone fault but got a new one and still not working

Is the phone plugged into the socket at the back of your broadband Hub? Is the Voice light on the front panel lit? Amber or green?
