LNB Replacement

Hello

I have a Sky +hd decorder with Quad LND on the dish. Can I replace a Quad LNB which is future proof for 4K  for future SkyQ decoder if I have to replace the decoder in future and HD for present decoder.

Many thanks for your help

Cass

There is no reason to future proof your LNB for Sky Q as Sky will change the LNB when/if you upgrade your service to Q

Re: LNB Replacement

Hello Annie

Thanks for your response,so I am on the understanding that you cannot buy  a universal Quad LNB which will work on sky Q decorder as well as  on the Sky+ HD decorder. These information is for anybody who do not subscribe to sky hence the question  thats all.

Many thanks

Cass

@carson  Anyone can buy a hybrid LNB for use with Sky Q and Sky+ or older Freesat boxes.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

As @Annie+UK indicates, the current EL027 Q-compatible 'hybrid' quad-LNB is widely available online for £20-£30.  You'll also find some stock of the original 'hybrid' hex-LNB (EL010 and EL028).

Re: LNB Replacement

Do you need an engineer to replace the lnb

Anyone can change an LNB as long as you know how to set it up to get the best signal from it (usually requiring special equipment for the signal strength)

@Garry+CH

It's viable for DIY as long as dish alignment isn't shifted in the process (and, of course, if access is safe)

Worth noting that the LNB arm on older dishes isn't necessarily compatible with recent LNB models.
