Recording on RTE

Why do something series link and record on RTE and TG4 in Northern Ireland, but others don't ?

All down to the data encoded into the contentment by the Host Bradcasters.  If they don't include the link data it will not series link

Also potentially a rights issue, I'd think: some broadcast RoI channels are present in NI EPGs (but not elsewhere in the UK) as part of a longstanding cross-border reciprocal arrangement based on the complex political and cultural history of the island and the pragmatic recognition that terrestrial signals and satellite footprints aren't good at recognising national borders, rather than any obligation to have all content available. 

 

Different arrangements are in place for online service because those can typically be geolocated within a particular country using the public IP address issued by the ISP.
