Probable scam

Received an email this morning stating that from 30March unless customers have not updated their yahoo email account will no longer be able to log in their Sky Yahoo webmail.(whatever webmail is).

Asks you to click on link to update.

I am awaiting for a response from Sky Help but suspect it is a scam

Julian

Yep, it's an attempt to scam you, probably by way of capturing your log in details via the link. I imagine that's how many customers who think they've been hacked have actually given away their log in details.

This particular scam does seem to be one of the more common ones as it gets reported on here a lot. Should you be sent anymore mark them as spam so they get deleted.

Re: Probable scam

I also got one today, it's very convincing but the red flag for me was the sender details when I dug into them (ie- who the heck is this sender ?)

@Scully+BG yes, you're right, it's an attempt to capture your log in details fraudulently via the links in the email. There's no upgrade.

Those who think their email accounts have been hacked have most likely given away their log in credentials this way.

It isn't very convincing as Sky wouldn't send an email from an Outlook address and neither would they ask you to click on a link to update an account as this wants you to do. Sadly these emails are very common as have been doing the rounds for years.

Re: Probable scam

@caesarome  I meant as in the text, logos etc.  I'm usually savvy in digging deeper into the sender details but many people wouldn't be, especially if you whizz through yahoo emails on your phone (you have to specifically click on the sender to open up the full domain address).

anyway, scam averted in this occasion! 👍
