Fibre or not ever

Checking Broadband in my area, we can only have the basic 29mbps, no other options available, but it does say :

But don't worry, we're working on it, so it's worth checking in from time-to-time to see if it changes. Sadly checking openreach no such plans exist ! Which odd as a company ' toob ' is offering 900 fibre in 2024. Looks like Sky will lose customers, dispite Don't Worry we are working on. checking our area no such upgrade at local exchange is in future plans

@EDGARTHEFIRST  Toob are an Altnet they use their own network similar to the likes of Virgin Media.  Sky and other ISPs use the Openreach network, it is up to Openreach to deliver the FTTP programme to your area.

Neither Sky or other ISP's can offer a service that is simply not available.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

@EDGARTHEFIRST Sky only offer connection via Openreach and their roll out of fibre is done on a commercial basis other areas are being funded by government money. Sky have no direct say in which areas get upgraded but clearly will do what they can not to lose customers.

Of course you can switch to Toob if you are out of contract with Sky. Overall analysts  expects further consolidation amongst the numerous smaller Altnet suppliers as several have already disapeared and with most you do not get a choice of ISP and pricing seems too low for them to turn a profit let alone cover the capital investment

If they don't go bust first: Toob is currently kept afloat by venture capital and debt financing (as is typical for an altnet) while they race to reach enough customers to begin breaking-even on subscription income at some unspecified point in the future: as of October last year they had a whole 10,000 subscribers (Sky is around 5.7 million )
