Re: Where is Alan Lambourn ?
Simon Thomas reading out the results is probably as good as it's going to get, but I agree that it doesn't feel 'right' having the presenter also reading out the classified results on a Saturday afternoon.
How I wish Sky would bring Lambourn back, sadly I can't see it happening, why they got rid of him in the first place I'll never understand.

Re: Where is Alan Lambourn ?
I met the lovely chap, very nice indeed. he also did stuff for Hospital Radio in southampton. Saw him there in a tour.
brilliant stuff.
all came about when I decided to broadcast 4 day cricket online of hampshire as no one else was doing it. Ran a feed from the mixer of hospital radio into a caster laptop.
with the ECB's blessing of course.

Re: Where is Alan Lambourn ?
Just heard Simon Thomas trundle through the results...awful. I agree with other the voise of football results was Alan Lambourn. He knew all the proper and full names of the clubs. Sky seem to prune the wrong folk just because they can, but never seem to keep the best or consider the view of their subscribers.

I really don't get what they've done this season, cycling through a succession of untrained female results readers before leaving Simon to do it himself. I know, they've never employed a specialist classified results reader on the midweek show as far as I can remember so maybe its days were always numbered even as a Saturday tradition.
Think I'll stick to Mike West on BBC, the last vaguely competent classified results reader left even if he's not quite Len, Tim, Mike or JAG. I guess it's a fading art, and something born of the era before real-time updates (even Ceefax never mind smartphones) and when the pools was king. Score draws on coupons, anyone?

Len, Tim, Alan or JAG, that should have read... the Mount Rushmore of results readers!

It's just part of Saturday afternoon tradition, the results and tables round-up at 5pm on Sky or BBC, or 5 Live if you happen to be in the car... yes we can see it all in 'real time' on phones etc. but still not the same! A bit like MotD versus just watching clips of the goals.

Re: Where is Alan Lambourn ?
Saturday and Sunday afternoons are always football orientated because of my husband's love of sport. The only tolerable part of a Saturday afternoon insofar as I am concerned was the sound of Mr Lambourn reading the results accompanied by, on occasion, a hint of humour when the start of a match may have been delayed or indeed postponed altogether! In light of all the criticism and complaints these last few months regarding the absence of Mr Lambourn, is there anyone at Sky taking note of these comments and planning to rectify the situation? We, as customers, pay handsomely for those who provide this service and, therefore, expect our complaints to at least be acknowledged if not acted upon.
Sky - if indeed anyone is out there or listening - we implore you, PLEASE BRING BACK ALAN LAMBOURN!

Watching S Thomas on Sky Sports....think he needs to get a grip...three times he got his maths incorrect, and got the wrong team at least twice. Think we were very much spoilt by the excellent Jeff Stelling.
Agree all the folk look scruffy.

Re: Where is Alan Lambourn ?
Soccer Saturday is really plumbing the depths today, why do we need to watch endless coverage of 2 buses going through Newcastle ?. A quick mention would have sufficed, it really is insulting to the viewers who want to hear reports on the live matches taking place, not hearing Ant & Dec going on about going to Greggs😧
I miss Alan Lambourn, Stelling, Le Tissier, Thompson, and Nicholas so much - I'm sure Jeff would have asked Katie Shanahan where she was going to moonlight as a waitress tonight🤣
