What exactly is Sky Showcase?

Evenin' everyone. 

I'm sat in Spain at my parents place and they have bought a new TV that has Sky Showcase on it. I've googled the hell out of it but can't find any descriptions of what it is, what channels are included (if they are). My dad is typical old school (94 and still wants to watch UK news despite living here 30+ years) and Nat. Geo, Alibi and a few other old school Sky channels.

It's abut weird there are no adverts or descriptions for it as it appears to be a legal Sky in Europe product.

@Forestwalker do you mean Sky Showtime as opposed to Sky Showcase? Sky Showtime is a streaming service which is a joint venture between Comcast and Paramount.

@Forestwalker  Sky UK/Ireland don't operate in Spain, so I'm not sure what the app refers to.

Sky Showtime as mentioned by @MarkGoldsmith  is a different service intended for markets outside the Uk, is this what you are referring to?

It should be noted there are no legal ways to receive any UK pay TV channels in Spain, best they can hope for on a very large dish is channels from 19e&13e which carry english news channels, 28E UK footprint has no overspill into spain.

Are you certain it is Sky Showcase, nor Sky Showtime

Sky Showtime is a joint venture between sky's parent Comcast and Paramount, available in Spain and other countries as a streaming service

Sky Showcase is s UK linear channel

Sky Showcase is a best of Sky channel... It shows various programs from various Sky channels. Don't know if this is the same on the continent though.

Probably important to note that Sky Showtime in Spain will be carrying on-demand content intended for a Spanish-speaking audience, just as it's language-specific (by dubbing or subtitling) in every other country where it operates.  It's not an overseas distribution mechanism for UK EPG channels: that would be neither economically feasible or possible in terms of regulatory and licensing regimes.

Morning Mark, my parents have been here for nigh on 40 years and we're 2 of the million+ unofficial subscribers over here. Although Sky didn't have a licence to operate over here they did little to stop the people enabling it as it was tens of millions on their bottom line.   They gave unofficial Sky up a few years back as the people offering it kept putting their prices which is why I was intreagued when I saw this  Sky Showtime on a Spanish TV along with Netflix, Prime, Disney etc.

Going to be a bit of a shock when satellite broadcasting to the UK & RoI ends, because it's the same signal that falls on all those big dishes...
