Ridiculous. It is simply the way American TV companies sell their content. The only other option is not to buy/broadcast it at all.

It's because the us network hasn't handed over the episodes yet. Sky has to wait to receive the episodes

I don't understand one thing tho. Isn't NBC and Sky part of one company? Why would Sky have to buy something from a sister channel and wait for it so long?

Chicago Fire S14 has begun re-airing on Sky Witness on Friday evenings at 9pm. Episode 2 just aired with episode 3 next week so am presuming that's a good sign as by the time we get to episode 7 (the last one that aired last December) we will be in August and then episode 8 can debut right away
