Re: I'll make you on offer you can't refuse

@Austinored  I've not yet watched the restored trilogy I bought on AppleTV+, which means I've yet to see the new version of pt.3, so that's something to look forward to. Glad you enjoyed it.

@TimmyBGood agreed with your assessment, I didn't really fault her in the film. The only person I've missed is Robert Duvall who rightly so wanted more money to be on par with Pacino at least, so his role was cut out and instead we get Mr Tanning Salon Hamilton lol 😂

Re: I'll make you on offer you can't refuse

Finished watching this last night & it is, without a doubt, the best new series I've seen this year, loved every single episode. The acting talent is beyond brilliant. A special nod has to go to the casting agents who did a spot-on job.

Whether you're a fan of The Godfather or simply like films, I thoroughly recommend this. I've always wondered exactly what it is that a producer does & now I know, & quite frankly it is a lot more than I thought. Also, it goes to show that it is remarkable that The Godfather ever got made. If you are a fan of the film but haven't seen it for a while, a rewatch before watching The Offer might be a good idea.

If you're thinking that you don't want to shell out for yet another subscription service, honestly, this is worth paying a one-off fee of £6.99 & then binge-watching within a month & then you can cancel. Alternatively, take up the 7-day free trial & binge in a week (there are only 10 episodes ), or use the Walkers offer which is a free month, I think it expires at the end of the year.

If you're interested in knowing more about Bob Evans, he has a brilliant autobiography called The Kid Stays In The Picture, which is also the name of the documentary mentioned in this thread & is still available to download from Sky Documentaries.

Having seen The Offer I would love to see a similar series about the making of Coppola's other classic film, Apocalypse Now ( and yes, I am aware of the documentary Hearts of Darkness but it would be good to see a dramatisation of the making of the film as well ).

@merv60 totally agree about the Kid Stays in the Picture, amazing documentary, and Matthew Goode got him spot on.

Paramount Plus is a little gem. I've so far watched Coyote, Mayor of Kingstown, looking forward to watching some more good drama.

@Austinored  If you haven't seen it already, I can recommend Nurse Jackie with Edie Falco & Merritt Wever. I'm watching it for a second time with my gf who's not seen it before, she loves it too.

Another one I have lined up on P+ is The Thing About Pam with Rene Zellweger which looks like it may be good.

Didn't really mean to continue a subscription with P+ once my offer had ended, but as you say, there is some good stuff to be watched.

@merv60 glad you've extended your sub. I've got it via Sky Movies so I'm taking full advantage. There are a couple of documentaries that are worth a watch. One about Everest is good. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out. Next series I will watch is Yellowstone S5, and Tulsa King, once they finish, will binge them both. And then American Gigolo looks good. So much good stuff. It's a real first world problem juggling 5 platforms with so much good content lol 😂

@Austinored  I'm juggling 6 at the moment along with a number of YouTube videos in my Watch Later list. I actually have to keep a notebook now to list all the platforms & what we want to watch/are currently watching. To think I began my TV-watching days with only 3 channels to choose from. 🙂

Lol I'm juggling a few too, just finished the latest season of Babylon Berlin, excellent. Currently started with the missus The Crown final season, then will start War of the Worlds S3 on Disney as well as American Crime Story Impeachment.

@Austinored  I watched The Kid Stays In The Picture a couple of days ago & strangely, when it got to The Godfather, there isn't a single mention or a single frame of Al Ruddy, it's as if he was never there. I know Bob Evans had a big ego but why wouldn't he mention & give credit to Al Ruddy? After all, It's Al's name on the poster, not Bob's, & Al who won the Oscar.

I have no idea TBH @merv60 I've only heard of Al Ruddy when watching The Offer, i was surprised that he produced a few classics.
