Re: F1 qualifying repeats

I fully appreciate the reason for the delay but that doesn't excuse Sky.

The EPG for terrestrial channels on my TV updates in real time, so these things are possible. If I could have watched the race live, I clearly would, as I do most of the time. I can't record as I watch via Now TV.

its not good enough for a broadcaster who rakes in billions, not to have a fit for purpose TV guide.

The Sky Group division of the Comcast Corporation has managed to post losses in several of the years following the 2018 acquisition.

Having said that, not being able to dynamically adjust the EPG around events which are notorious for scheduling challenge is an ongoing weakness whatever the finances are like.

I agree it's possible. Given that Sky own the entire platform, and it's not just their sport channel on someone else's platform, it's all the more galling. btw  I hear what you say about not being able to record or watch live.

But I have learned the hard way over many years that they are terrible at updating the EPG for the Sky Sport F1 channel on a weekend with new times for things. What tends to happen is that the Duration of an overrunning programme is extended, ie a recording of a race gets extended so the end isn't chopped. The same happens with all later programmes that are delayed - but only their durations. No new start times are published are used. So if you recorded Ted's Notebook, instead of a 30 minute recording, you could get a 90 minute recording and the last 30  minutes of it was the delayed-starting Ted's Notebook. Repeat for every programme which follows the race, all evening long. The short "filler" programmes (put in the scheduled so that they can be dropped) are never dropped; start and end published times are never adjusted, all the things that are possible are not made use of.

This is the sad reality of the situation, and was the thrust of my post. It's well known they don't do what they could do - they've had the contract since 2012, this is not a surprise, which is why I said that if you just expect not to be spoiled by tuning in live to that channel on the day of a live sport event, you are likely to be disappointed.
