Cutting scenes from movies?

Watching Kindergarten Cop and there are definitely bits that have been cut from the original movie. Why? And what other films are we paying for but not actually getting to see the whole of! I'm not a fan of this censoring and it's making me miss DVDs at least you got the film you know and love and maybe even some bonus features!

@Whatajoke92

This appears to be currently broadcast on Film Four, which is operated by Channel 4, not Sky so any cuts or edits should be raised with Channel 4

Saying that, this could be due to Ofcom rules on rating. I see it states a rating of PG, while googling it either has a 12 raring or 15 rating (15 rating according to imdb is 19 seconds longer)

It would appear Film Four cut or edited some scenes to be able to broadcast it before the watershed,

Sky for 12 and 15 content broadcast before the watershed, tend to put a pin protection/ lock on them (to comply with Ofcom rules),

Channel 4 do the same with the simpsons

As @nolte indicates, anything with a 12 certificate or above that's showing on a terrestrial channel before 21:00, or on a Sky platform without a Mandatory Daytime Protection PIN, because this is what the Broadcasting Code specifies.

This actually gives wider audience choice (although in the case of the truly dreadful 'family friendly' edit of Saturday Night Fever, a very different and much worse movie ; )

There's no absolute right to see 'the whole of' any particular content, but purchasing an optical disk does give a better chance of viewing what the director intended.
