Bauer have removed 10 radio stations from sky, virgin and freesat.these will disappear by the 13th December, maybe they want you to pay £4 a month to watch with no adverts

I'm confused. These are radio stations.... They have no visual content whatsoever. Adverts have always been present on radio channels..

Planet rock as grown since lockdown getting more and more people involved, can now pay £4 a month to get more channels with less advertising and more music.Doesnt make much sense to stop channels on sky if many people are listening, this is only thing that makes sense to get more money

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@hitbox47 unfortunately the ads pay the bills and what independent broadcasters do is completly out of Sky's hands. Satellite radio is something that was never big and is comparatively expensive while streaming is cheap so the switch is inevitable. Satellite TV is expected to go the same way at some point.

Fewer than 3 in 100 were using the platforms which have now been closed though: at that kind of rate it's quite possible the cost of satellite data transit was causing the stations to lose money on every listener they reached through a dish.
