I have actually just found a conversation from Christmas time with people having exactly the same problem, and Sky were resolving it. I pay for Sky talk, I don't want to use and pay for another provider.

You can't use an IP phone with Sky Talk. I'm not sure how much clearer I can be.

Nope: they've been attempting to fix an issue with business use of VoIP handsets and accounts supplied by employers through the Max Hub, but that's very different.  Sky Talk Internet Calls is not compatible with VoIP phones because there's no known way for a user to configure the required details into the software setup of the VoIP hardware itself.

 

Note that BT Broadband uses the same approach in its domestic broadband: ISPs really don't want the additional support burden of talking customers through VoIP configuration and troubleshooting, which is why they build an ATA into their routers.
