Thinking of Switching from EE

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

I am thinking of possibly switching from EE to SKY

I currently have Full Fibre so my landline is already switched to VOIP

Is there anything I specifically need to do to ensure I keep my landline number as part of a switch ?

I know that I can't use my BT Digital phone with SKY  so will need to use a dect or other phone  - are there any phones I need to avoid ?

Is there anything else I might need to be aware of ?

TIA

Hi @nigea99, I don't think there's anything in particular you need to do to port your number, other than ticking the box to say you want to keep your number. I've seen a couple of posts which seem to suggest there are two boxes to tick, but not having switched to Sky personally, I don't know how accurate that is.

Do be aware that from the number of posts here, that Sky do seem to have more problems than other providers with successfully porting numbers.

Any reasonable recent analogue DECT phone should be fine (not an IP phone). I've always used Panasonics but that's personal choice.

Hopefully someone with experience of switching from EE to Sky will be able to post their experience.

Re: Thinking of Switching from EE

You should be fine switching from EE to Sky, by default Sky include talk with their broadband packages which I find really useful as a lot of other providers charge for this. I use my old BT phone and it works perefctly with Sky literally just plugged it into the back of teh Sky hub and it worked staright away.

Just an update on switching

Unfortunatley it seems my phone line comes back as can't be switched.

I do just use the landline phone  as a back up as most people/companies now have my mobile.

So I will just have to think who might only have my landline number (although as I say most do have my mobile) and contact those I need to have both numbers in case I need them to contact me & let them know the new landline number when I get it.
