Telephone number changed by Sky from Virgin

Just signed up to Sky and Open Reach has been and installed but nobody can contact me on my landline.  Have they changed my telephone number? No information listed on my online account.

Sky don't/can't guarantee you can keep the same number. If you dial 17070 from your landline and listen to the automated message it should include your number.

How can I get my Virgin number?  This is going to cause a lot of problems for me.

If it has changed you won't get it back. It'll eventually be recycled and issued to someone else.
