Telephone extension cable needed

Hi, I contacted sky to discuss having an engineer to extend from main BT master socket to run upstairs to my 92 year old mothers annexe. I was told this was ok but wanted my debit card details over the phone.... is this normal?

As long as you called an authorised number, it's quite possible that Sky charge upfront for the engineer callout.
