Re: Sky Talk Shield

Mark39,

Hello Mark,

I'm joining Sky BB on 24 Nov. Moving from BT BB that uses something called Call Protect. (similar I guess to Sky Talk Shield).
Took about one year for the BT community (myself included) to get BT to sort out the issues wth it.

Question: Does Sky Talk Shield now work in that you can
1. block phones number through the handset and
2. login to Sky the Website, and see the list of blocked numbers in Talk Shield and
3. add new ones to Talk Shield via the website

The blocking of nuisance calls is very important to us.

Best regards,

Michael

Hi @Michael007

So far as I'm aware the long standing fault which affects some customers has still not been fixed. So:

I don't know of any way to predict whether or not you will be affected by this issue, unfortunately.

Re: Sky Talk Shield

Thanks Mark.

I was hoping other members could assure me that Sky Talk Shield works both online and through the handset.

I assume using the handset, works like BT Call protect, in that you dial a 4 digit number and are asked do you wish to block the last call received ." number xxxxxxxx".

The online access wil be important to me to see a list and manage the blocked numbers (list, add, delete)

Anyway, I will have 14 days calling off once the service is activited.

It does for most. Short of trying it, I don't think there's any way of knowing if you'll be one of the few for whom online access doesn't work

Very similar. See Sky's guide here: https://www.sky.com/help/sky-talk/sky-talk-features/sky-talk-shield/articles/sky-talk-shield-using-s...

Re: Sky Talk Shield

Looks like I'm affected by the 'Whoops' when trying to access shield online!

Is there any way to look at your talk account and call charges, etc. I've only got pay as you talk but Talk does not appear as one of my products in my account.

Sorry you're affected too @Chubster

Call charges are itemised in your online bill. You may need to expand each component in your bill to see the details.

I just spent 30 mins on chat and they disabled talk shield and then enabled it again.

Re: Sky Talk Shield

Hi Mark,.

Joined Sky BB  on 24 Nov and it included Sky Talk  (and Talk Shied).

On Sky BB day 1 the 24 Nov  25 the BB was working fine, I did download tests and connected the new Wifi.

Sky Talk took another 24 hours to work.
On 25 Nov I did in fact get a SPAM call on my landline,

So, I then tried to Register for Talk Shield online (Sky website)  so I could in future see & manage my Blocklist..

After answering and setting all preferences, Sky system gave an error message each time I tried to create an account for Talk Shield.
I contacted Sky Help using the text message system. The Sky Operator (Sanjay) was so helpful and created my Talk Shield account..

So, Talk Shield works with ONE issue for me.
Using phone, code 1783 should "Add last caller to Block List"
Using this code, Sky Talk says "You have not received any calls in the last 30 days".
The workaroud is, using code 1780 (access Shield Menu) ; then follow menu options to MANUALLY add a telephone number to your block list.

Not ideal bur hey it works.

Wondering, does using phone code 1783  work for other users.

Thanks

Michael
