Please help me with some Sky Talk queries

My BT contract ends next month, and I either stay with them or come to Sky. I understand all I need about the broadband, I think - looking at the 500Mbps FTTP offering - but Sky Talk has me confused, and reading the Help hasn't.

I've got FTTP, new estate, no copper here. I have a family of DECT analogue phones, for which BT supplied a Digital Voice Adapter that the DECT master phone plugs into, and which then connects the set of DECT phones wirelessly too the router. And because this doesn't always work,  BT supplied an Advanced Digital Home Phone that also connects wirelessly to the router.

I guess if I leave BT they are going to want these items back, and anyway they only work with the BT router.

So, if I want Sky Talk, what do I need, and what do I get from Sky?

I see talk of a landline, which I don't want or need as I'm quite happy to continue with VoIP, and of a cost of about £18 a month, and I can't figure if this is when you have just a landline, no broadband, or what?

And actually, I do have one query about the broadband; the 500Mbps comes with a better router than Standard, but there's an even better router for an extra £3 a month? Is that right?

I expect I could phone Sky and get answers to these questions, but I think I'd get a sales pitch also, and I want my ducks in a row first.

Here's hoping you can help me.

You just need a standard DECT phone. The DECT base station plugs into a standard phone socket at the back of Sky's broadband Hub. There's no digital voice adaptor to provide a wireless connection to the Hub.

Calls via Sky VOIP are chargeable, just as standard calls are. By default you'll have the Pay as you Talk package which has NO inclusive calls. You pay for any call you make. There are other call packages available which do have inclusive calls, in return for a monthly subscription. Hope that helps.

Re: Please help me with some Sky Talk queries

Thanks @Mark39

So I'll have to put my DECT base station in the cupboard with my router, where the ONT is. Or use my internal Ethernet wiring to reposition the router to where the DECT base station, possibly itself at a new location, will be. Less convenient, but doable. I'll have a think about what would be the best arrangement.

I have the SkyTalk tariffs, thanks, from:-

The bit that worries me still is:-

"Sky Talk Customers must take line rental from Sky (£18.99 per month)."

The Sky broadband package I'm looking at is £33 a month. So am I looking at another £19 a month for the Sky Talk, or do they mean Sky Talk (only) customers, or is a Sky Broadband customer not regarded as a Sky Talk customer for this purpose?

Sky could make this clearer 😢

Still wondering about the router; should I ask on a different board?

@MidnightVoice Sky's landline and broadband services are bundled together. Line rental is included in the broadband price - there's nothing extra to pay.

Yes, the extra £3pm gets you Sky's most up to date router rather than the standard Hub.
