Check Phone line fault
For the last week, I'm just getting a "check phone line" error on our home phone,
Can't make any calls and when people ring us just get an engaged tone
Broadband is fine and download speeds are normal, I've reset everything, plugged the phone directly into the BT socket with no joy, same error.

Have you changed anything related to your broadband over the last week so that your hub does not have a voice light on it that is lit ?

No voice light on, on the hub although I can't remember it ever being on, the phone has always been plugged in the BT socket.
I have tried plugging the phone into the hub and still the same "check phone line" error

See if you can run this line test to see if a fault is found outside of your property and if something is found you can book an engineer repair, ignore the fact it says it will test your broadband:

You can also run this test via the MySky app.

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who should be in touch with you regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at the bottom of this page. It should be later this morning that you are contacted about this.
This link explains how this works so you will need to respond to the chat bubble at the bottom of the page when it appears:

When the chat bubble does appear you will need to respond to it as soon as you can or it will be closed if there is no response within 48 hours.
This isn't a live chat so replies are not instant.

I’ve escalated your post to Sky and the Messaging Team should contact you later.
You need to watch out for a post from one of the team inviting you to a private chat and then you should see a blue/red speech bubble at the bottom of your forum page. You’ll have 48 hours to click on it and start the private chat or it will close automatically. If you fail to respond to a chat reply within 48 hours the chat will again close down automatically even if your issue hasn’t been resolved. Replies from Sky aren’t instant so you’ll need to check the chat thread fairly regularly.
