Can't make outgoing calls

Since having sky broadband and talk set up 5 weeks ago I have been unable to make outgoing calls although able to receive calls as normal. Any call I attempt to make is met with a high pitched engaged tone.

 

I have gone through every option via online/helpline spending many hours on the phone going through all suggested set-up checks, resets, unplugging everything for a few minutes etc. and this has made no difference.

 

I have also been sent a new router and tried a different handset but no change.

 

When I call their helpline I am told that the problem is still being checked by a 'team' but have heard nothing in the last 2 weeks.  There appears to be no way of initiating an engineer visit as am told that I can't do this directly - have to wait to be contacted by someone at sky.

 

Feel like there is no way forward and want to call to cancel my contract but worried this will cost and leave me having to set everything up again with another provider.

 

Any suggestions very welcome!

I doubt an engineer visit would be of any help with this, as it's unlikely to be a fault with your line.

 

Do you have a white Max Hub or a black one?

@iain48 we've seen occasional reports here before of a delay before the landline service is fully activated. I imagine it's Sky's Network team that are liaising with Openreach to finalise the service. If your situation is similar, I'm afraid it's a matter of waiting for Sky and Openreach to sort it out,

It's all sorted now - I saw someone else with a similar problem on here and someone suggested switching everything off for a few hoiurs.  Turned everything off at bedtime last night and when I switched everything back on this morning, it finally sorted itself out.

 

Surprised no on at Sky actually sugggested that much earlier.
