Can't make or receive calls

Since upgrading to the new Sky Broadband Hub, my landline is not working to make or receive calls.

 

When I plug the phone into the ROI socket on the hub, the internet light starts flashing orange, and so does the voice light. The internet is then down for about 30 minutes and not a gig out of the phone 

 

Is the problem that the handset is not compatible with internet calls? How can I tell this? Is there something else I need to do to activate sky talk? If anything it really shouldn't knock off my internet just by plugging the phone into the back of the hub?

@SeanFreeman  I take it from what you are saying is that you are in the ROI and tried to plug the phone into the back of the router in the right port.

Yes living in ROI, and as soon as I plug the phone into the back of the hub, both the internet and voice lights turn from solid green to blinking orange?

@SeanFreeman  Are you able to try another phone, this should be a normal phone and not one that is for voip calls.

Unfortunately not, we only have the one Philips house phone to connect with wire into the back of the hub. Attaching image of this phone's model.

 

I presume there is no way to test with a mobile phone?

@SeanFreeman have Sky informed you that you have internet calls? If not, you need to plug your phone into the wall socket in the normal way, via a microfilter if necessary.

@Mark39  Not sure in the way the OP said that the voice light starts flashing when they plug in the phone, as though it is already on.

Yeah sky talk with new hub comes with internet calls. Current setup is into the wall with micro filter. When I make a call to the house phone, the green voice light flashes, but the phone doesn't actually ring.

 

My best guess is either my master socket needs an upgrade to a prefiltered socket by a sky engineer? Or else the house phone I have is just not compatible with modern internet calls ....

 

Either way, I should be able to plug the phone into the hub without it affecting the internet, but currently it makes it flash orange, and doesn't resolve until phone is plugged back into the wall

Remove the microfilter. You don't need it with internet calls.

 

Your phone won't work when plugged into the wall socket, if you have internet calls.
