BT Landline
I have a BT Landline which is plugged into the back of my Sky Router for the internet and tv to work. What happens to my Sky services when BT switch over to digital ?
If Sky provides a new router, do I still need a phone 'line' as we dont have a house phone ?

Your phone service will continue as normal, except that your phone handset (if you had one) would be plugged into your broadband Hub, rather than the wall socket

You'll still need the phone line, as it provides your broadband connection as well as landline (unless you have a separate fibre optic cable to your home).
If your existing broadband Hub doesn't have a standard phone socket on the rear panel, Sky will send you a replacement Hub. The Hub will continue to be plugged in, as it is now, to your Openreach wall socket,
Note that it's Openreach (not BT) making the change to a digital phone service. Customers of all broadband/landline providers, including BT and Sky, will by 2027 have to switch to a digital landline service. At the moment, customers new to Sky, or upgrading their broadband technology or moving home are required to switch to digital. They haven't announced any plans yet to switch existing customers that don't fall into the above categories.

Re: BT Landline
So even when the service is digitalised, I still have to pay BT for the phoone line ?

Re: BT Landline
Are you saying you're currently paying Sky for broadband and also paying BT for your landline phone service?.

Re: BT Landline
Generally, contracts where line rental and broadband provision are separated between two different providers are now extremely outdated.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: BT Landline
@CONFUSED26 you must have a very old contract with Sky. They haven't allowed split broadband/telephone services for a number of years. Consequently you're almost certainly paying over the odds for two separate services.
I would suggest either moving your landline service to Sky, or your broadband service to BT, so that they're both under one roof. I don't think you can continue having separate providers when you're obliged to move to a digital phone service.
Sky don't charge separately for line rental. It's all included in their charge for broadband. You don't, therefore have to pay for the landline service with Sky, if you don't use it.

Re: BT Landline
Thank you Mark for communicating with me.
Our broadband has been like that for years, and to be fair, the internet connection is very good. But yes I do think I am paying more than I shoul be.
So take me through this so I can take it all in.
If I move my phone line contract to sky who provide my broadband, what would a typical package cost, and do I have to still pay BT for anything. Youre advice is greatly appreciated.
