protect from lightning

We had a bad storm the other day and my wife unpluged our sky box and asked if our dish is safe from lightning strike, How likley can this happen?

Lighning will usually hit the highest thing, ie trees, terestrial TV aerials etc... so less likely to hit a dish but not impossible

 

Also if you use surge protector extensions you usually don't need to unplug thing using the extensions
