You will need to contact Sky to upgrade to Sky Q (if that's what you mean by a newer box).

I will cc in one of the other Superusers who has compiled a very helpful guide for those thinking of transitioning from Plus to Q which may provide some insight into something you hadn't considered.

'Newer' Sky+ / Sky+ HD boxes aren't available to existing subscribers: it's an end of life product which hasn't been manufactured for nearly a decade, and the old trick of buying a second-hand box and transfering the Viewing Card over no longer works.
